How do you feel when you receive a “Dear Sir,” “Dear Madam,” or “To Resident” letter? You probably trash it. It has no real value to you. Clearly, the sender is doing a message blast, without any real consideration of who you are. Yet, many people sent out generic holiday greetings and don’t realize how those messages are likely to be dismissed as equally insincere.
Even if you have a huge mailing list and, as a practical matter, need to do a generic holiday blast, it is smart to personalize the greetings you send to your top clients and prospects. You want your message to stand out. You want them to feel special towards you. You want
them to feel they are special to you. It takes a little extra time to do this but that time is well worth it.
There are many ways to personalize your greeting. Just reference what you know about them personally and/or about the nature of your past business with them. For example…
- Wishing you and your family a Happy, Fun Holiday on your ski vacation.
- I appreciate the work we started on X this year and wish you a very Happy Holiday and prosperous New Year
- Enjoy your stay-cation and best wishes for a Happy, Healthy, and Joyful New Year
- Best wishes for a Happy Holiday and a Joyful New Year with your new baby
- Best wishes to you, Jack, and family for a Happy, Healthy, & Joyful Holiday and new year
Small Investment of Time – Big Return on the Relationship
You get the idea. One reference to personalize your message and your good wishes will be truly appreciated and valued..
