Tony Robbins, recently called The CEO Whisperer by Fortune magazine is also #7 on the list of Top Fifteen Ted Talks, as judged by views (10,425,014). I encourage you to watch his video as well as the others on the list, because if you want to be a presentation pro, it is a good idea to periodically watch the pros in action–and they don’t get much better than the speakers at TED. See what they do, how they do it, and what you can learn from them. TED Talks, as you likely know, are short, (usually 18 minutes), presented by specialists doing cutting edge work across a range of disciplines, and are always fascinating.
What is equally fascinating and meaningful for all of us in business is to notice the variety of styles represented in this list. Each speaker in his/her own way manifests passion, commitment to the topic, and connection with the audience, elements we need in our presentations to be successful. It is hard to pick a favorite from this list, but, if forced, I would choose two: Robbin’s for his energy and Sir Ken Robinson for his humor and his topic (to which, admittedly, I am extremely partial). Watch one or two at a time. Then, which would you choose as your favorite(s)?
1. Sir Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity (2006): 23,510,221 views
2. Jill Bolte Taylor‘s stroke of insight (2008): 14,343,197
3. Simon Sinek on how great leaders inspire action (2010): 14,228,854
4. Brene Brown talks about the power of vulnerability (2010): 12,703,623
5. Amy Cuddy on how your body language shapes who you are (2012): 12,682,694
6. Pranav Mistry on the thrilling potential of SixthSense (2009): 12,068,105
7. Tony Robbins asks why we do what we do (2006): 10,425,014

9. Mary Roach on 10 things you didn’t know about orgasm (2009): 9,435,954
10. Daniel Pink on the surprising science of motivation (2009): 9.176,053

“Thanks to you, our presentation went very well…I am in awe at how you are able to analyze a situation and help me focus in on the key points that need to be clarified and emphasized. You make it look easy, but I know it is not! Lynn Hutzel-Visel, VP, Comerica Bank
